In the Alhambra in Granada is the Palace of the Lions. In the middle of its courtyard is a fountain in the shape of a larger marble basin supported on the backs of twelve lions. The Palace was commissioned by Nasrid sultan Muhammed V and built between 1362 and 1391 AD. In this post I want to have a much closer look at this fountain, at the poem and the patterns that appear on it, and at two copies: one in Poland and the other in Dubai.
